To you digital artists, animators, or anyone who works with some form of digital design.
Do you sometimes spend so long on a work that you make a new layer or similar, and just start defacing your own work as you find it therapeutic to just sometimes lay down something different quick?
I just could be speaking for myself but I totally just draw a random face on top of this uncompleted scene.
Urgh...so I've had computer/internet issues for the past week.
Firstly my ISP at home (Virgin Media, who I add are terrible anyway) were attacked by Anonymous last weekend so I've started last week with broadband issues.
The work computer started screwing up halfway through the week so I had to backup and reformat that.
Then later on in the week I find out that Virgin finally updated their service status to say an issue was reported on Monday and their estimated fix time is TODAY, a whole week later.
Hopefully this week everything will be better, I'm updating and putting everything back on my work computer as I speak. When I get home today the Internet better be stable and working again!

On an unrelated note the Avengers movie was fantastic, I recommend a watch if you haven't already done so! I wonder if they'll be writing the new Spiderman into the next Avengers movie.
Things are getting exciting as I've finished the animatic for Through the Fields, so basically I know how everything's going to pan out and I'm starting the real deal now! People have often asked me in the past if they could see how I work sometimes as I've sometimes shown progress pieces in drawings. Well for this animation I'll reveal a little more of the process of bringing things to life via animation, I'll screen record some parts of what I'm doing (again trying not to give the entire story away) and document what's going on behind the screen!
So whilst I'm testing various screen recording software I'll just leave you a couple of rough sketches for you guys!

DeviantART had an April Fool's Day event on involving cats so here is my little contribution for the themed community project over there. It's Catmania in there, so I thought I'd animate something short and fun for it. This short animation can be looped.
A friend of mine, John Elliott, formed the band The Little Unsaid and I'll be working on a little something for a very recent release called Through the Fields.
Tempted to link the song directly here but I want to keep it fresh for everyone so you'll just have to wait and see. Discussions have been going well, I will possibly consider uploading sketches, storyboards etc as time goes but every time I say that I tend to cop out because, again it's keeping things fresh isn't it?
On an unrelated note, I love Journey, Jenova Chen and Thatgamecompany are fantastic! Apologies if I keep running ahead of you in the game because I'm trying to get trophies!
Seriously what a beautiful game, if you own a PS3 I highly recommend it!

All done in Photoshop. Started it last night, just spent tonight tweaking it.
I told myself not to be such a geek.
I failed.
Annoying someone powerful must always bode well for you...right?
Also I haven't abandoned the next animation I was going to do but I felt like the idea needed refining first. :P
I have to say, although I have never made a 'major animation' in Photoshop other than emoticon and gif animation work, this video has opened my mind on what can be achieved with Photoshop alone.
I've been experimenting with the general working method a bit myself, this gives me an idea for an animation!
Will be done in time for Valentines Day (at least that's the aim!).
Ok so I sort of lied a bit, I said I would post screenshots or something before with my work in progress. However I got focused with making the animation that I just ended up finishing it!

Currently working on an animation in Flash, but also been really busy with day job work so things have been a little quiet around here recently. I will post some screenshots and related stuff in the near future!
In the meantime if anyone knows Junior Animator jobs or similar (entry level) about, do let me know!
Here's a new one to start 2012 off, I bought the Tin Tin Collection box set after Christmas as a treat to myself. As I've been saying this is truly 'childhood in a box'. The intro and music feels just as great as it used to. I have yet to watch the new CG movie that's out.
I have a range of images for you guys for todays update. Firstly I did some sketches in Hong Kong when I went to a local island, 3 pages worth of sketches that I've put together into one. I loved the different shapes and sizes of the boats there. (Check out my illustration gallery for a bigger size)
Then here's something I started in Google Sketchup which I've been growing to love recently, and finished in Photoshop.
And finally some sketches I did whilst on a train journey, and I just slapped a bit of tone on in Photoshop later when I got back.
Originally I wasn't going to finish this and I was going to leave it at a sketch, but a lot of people asked me to finish it so there you go! Coloured!

Just a random idea I had a little while back which I finally gotten around to, having a bit of fun really!
This is a piece for the Character Book project I mentioned in my last entry. Just a quick piece and it is one character out of a possible 50 to choose from. More to come later!
I am currently working on some drawings for a little project a friend of mine is doing. She is looking for people to submit artwork to her for this book! This is a great opportunity for everyone I believe, she is looking for artists, illustrators, crafters, paper engineers, toy designers, painters, digital artists and traditional artists. So any artist who is reading this right now is likely to fit into one of those categories at least!
